Noise pollution can have detrimental effects on both human health and biodiversity. In 2025, we launched a pilot project with the Edmonton Valley Zoo, City of Edmonton to assess noise in urban parkland and determine how noise pollution affects both human and animal residents. This pilot project has grown into the Edmonton Acoustic Research Stewardship (EARS), which supports community partners in collecting standardized acoustic data throughout the city.
