Contract Amount: Maximum possible amount for the entire term is $15,360. Contractors are paid rates relative to data processing categories: community data analysis, species verification, or single-species visual scanning. Bonus rates are paid based on regular, timely, high quality data completion.

Application Process: Successful candidates must pass an online examination process using WildTrax (www.wildtrax.ca) to be considered. The exam will assess the candidate’s ability to identify primarily Canadian birds, amphibians, and bats (Kaleidoscope) by sound and spectrogram. It will also assess attention to detail with data entry and verbal and written communication.
Scope of Work: Contractors will transcribe raw sensor data into species detections using WildTrax. Processing, tagging, species verification and data quality control will occur using standardized protocols developed by Biodiversity Pathways and its clientele. Work will be on a cyclical, contractual basis when data is available. Minimum work commitment is required to be 5 hours/week and maximum workload will be 20 hours/week from October 1, 2024–March 31, 2025.
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in identifying bird, amphibian, and bat species by sound in Canada; experience can be through point counts or audio data processing. Processing data in WildTrax is a strong asset.
- Reliable, able to commit to long-term part-time work, have a flexible schedule, and can meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
